Deer Track is built around a simple principle: the person who creates the data controls who can access it.

Your record can include information such as:

• Deer sightings
• Mortality and management activity
• Deer damage
• DVCs
• Health and disease observations
• Photographs
• Location
• Date and time
• Weather conditions

Your data remains private unless you choose to share it. You are always the starting point of the data journey.

You can choose to share your Deer Track activity with other users.

When you add a friend or shared user, they can see the data you have logged and vice versa.

This allows teams, stalkers, keepers and colleagues to build a shared picture of what is happening on the ground, while keeping everything else private.

Share what you want, with who you want.

Landowners can create a digital boundary around their land within Deer Track.

Once a user has been added to that land and accepts the invitation, the landowner can see the Deer Track records that fall within their land boundary.

The landowner can also see who logged each record.

This creates a powerful estate level evidence base without requiring everyone working on the land to manually report their observations.

Organisations such as clubs, syndicates and Deer Management Groups (DMGs) can bring multiple areas of land together.

Where land has been associated with the organisation, the organisation can access the relevant Deer Track records that fall within those boundaries.

At this level, authorised users can see:

• Pin locations
• Pin types
• Deer observations
• Management activity
• Damage and impact records
• DVC records
• Health observations
• Weather information
• Date and time
• Who recorded the information

This allows organisations and DMGs to move beyond individual holdings and start understanding deer and their impacts across the wider landscape.

This is where Deer Track becomes much more than just an app.

The Deer Track Project can provide an anonymised evidence layer for organisations such as government departments, research organisations and other approved partners.

At this level, users cannot see individual Deer Track users or identify who recorded a particular observation.

Personal and sensitive information is removed from the national evidence layer.

Instead, authorised project users can analyse anonymised and aggregated intelligence, such as:

• Where different types of deer activity are being recorded
• Species observations
• Mortality and management activity
• Deer damage
• DVC patterns
• Health and disease observations
• Temporal patterns
• Weather associated with observations
• Geographic trends
• Landscape-level activity

The purpose is simple:
Turn thousands of individual observations into better evidence for deer management.

The Deer Track Project can therefore help build a continuously updated picture of deer activity and impacts, without exposing individual users or their sensitive information.

Super Admin access exists to allow the Deer Track platform to operate safely and effectively.

Super Admins may have access to the underlying data and system information necessary to:

• Maintain the platform
• Investigate technical issues
• Protect system security
• Resolve data problems
• Provide user support
• Ensure the platform functions correctly

This access exists for platform administration and operational purposes, not for monitoring users or using their data for unrelated purposes.
